Black Belt Lean Implementation Course

COURSE OUTLINE

MODULE ONE

This module deals with introduction to concepts of Lean at a Black Belt Mentor level.  Applicants will be required to gain an understanding of the current Lean methodologies and the sustainability in developing a long-term lean enterprise structure.

The focus of this module will be on the in-depth knowledge of Lean tools & techniques through industrial experience, practical application and benefits gained by the implementation of Lean tools.

MODULE 2

TEACHING, LEARNING AND ASSESSMENT – Intended Module Learning Outcomes

Lead Continuous Improvement (CI) Change programmes

Objectives

On successful completion of this module the applicants should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of Lean Mentoring
  2. Demonstrate understanding of Change Management
  3. Understand the application of Transition Planning
  4. Understand the application of Value Stream Mapping
  5. Understand the concepts of Hoshin Kanri

Application of Learning

  • Selecting appropriate tools
  • Interpreting anticipated outcomes of tool usage

Teaching and learning methods

Informative workshops and briefings, will be followed by workplace supported examples and mentor/ tutorial type sessions.  In addition, there will be practical exercises to underline and develop the theory.

Special Features

This course is intended for managers, supervisors, and team leaders who are employed in the manufacturing or service sector.  This course supports applicants who are involved in a work-based learning scenario. The module will therefore, be delivered in the applicants’ workplace as they carry out their work with minimal time off the job.

Teaching and Learning will be supported by reference to case studies and critical incidents drawn from work at each applicant workplace.

An online learning platform has been developed to compliment delivery of this programme.

MODULE 3 - RESOURCES

As students are learning in their own workplace additional reading material may be recommended, including via an on-line link to our partner online learning academy. Students are also expected to explore additional sources of learning/reading material to support their study further.
